We left New Orleans and made our way up through Mississippi and Alabama. Very pleasant drive once we got off I-10 and headed north. Some very pretty country here. We camped in DeSoto State Park far north in DeKalb County, AL, about 80 miles from the Tennessee border. Northern Alabama is beautiful and we experienced Northeast type of fall weather for the first time with leaves changing colors, and a lot of them on the ground. Seemed almost like home. As usual this time of year, the campground was pretty empty and we had the place mostly to ourselves.
