The temples at Khajuraho balance architecture and sculpture, and most of the fine sculptures present scenes from daily life, Hindu gods and goddesses, and the erotic art that constitute the basis of the Kama Sutra. The temples were built during the Chandella dynasty which reached its apex between 950 and 1050 AD. Only about 20 temples remain and they are influenced by Tantric Hinduism and Jainism. Below are views of the some of the temples followed by close up examples of the engravings on them. Set in a large and beautiful well tended park, Khajuraho definitely lives up to its World Heritage designation.
