We were on our way North and stayed overnight in Nashville. We had breakfast with Mitch’s cousin, L. Russell Brown, a successful songwriter (of Tie A Yellow Ribbon fame). It was raining so we wanted to be indoors as much as possible.Since we have never been there,  Larry suggested Opryland and the Grand Ole Opry. We did both. No pictures from the fabulous indoor gardens in Opryland (sorry). Trust us, they are impressive. Then on to the Grand Ole Opry, where we do have pictures.

It was not sold out but there sure were a lot of people there. The show starts with commercial messages.

Dollar General

In case you haven’t noticed. Dollar General is EVERYWHERE!

Man drinking

The audience got themselves ready.

Performer3

The show started introducing some up and comers. It is basically a variety show and no one stays on stage very long.

performer5

Jeannie Seely was very good, taking command of the stage.

toss

Every so often there is audience participation with such things as ring toss.

performer 7 (old man)

Jesse McReynolds on the mandolin came with a group including his grandson. They were  terrific. He has been playing the Opry since 1964.

After the show we made our way back to the RV park. It was starting to get cold and we decided to head home as quickly as possible.
