Days 36-37 San Francisco, CA.
We hit the Bay City on October 5th and stayed with Mitch’s cousin Janet and her husband Art. We had three days of 80 degree, sunny weather which made this beautiful city even more spectacular. Janet took us on a walk over to the Presidio (which has now been extended to the Bay) to view a large sculpture exhibit which included a number of Mark de Suvero’s works.
The next morning we walked down to Marina Green to watch Janet and Art’s daughter Alison finish the Bridge to Bridge 10K Road Race and we walked back to Janet’s for a Dim Sum brunch where we were joined by Alison’s husband Steve and their boys Max and Eli, and Alison’s brother Eric.

After brunch Art dropped us off near the annual Hardly Strictly (and free) Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park where thousands of folks gathered around six separate stages (over 750,000 attended the 3-day event). We got there late the last day of the festival and were lucky to catch the Kate McGarrigle Tribute Concert featuring Martha and Sloan Wainwright, Loudon Wainwright III, Emmy Lou Harris, Richard Thompson, Steve Earle, Buddy Miller, Maria Muldaur and others. It was great.
That night Janet made a great salmon dinner and we were joined by Mitch’s Uncle Charlie (Janet’s father) and his wife Maureen who live in San Jose, and Mitch’s cousin Frances who lives in Oakland.

Did Mitch wear his new cowboy hat for Emmy Lou Harris?
I’m now enjoying your blogs from Florida. I got here on Monday night.
Actually he did.
